Wedding Junk

I have wedding updates! I was in Meijer yesterday and saw some really beautiful fake calla lilies! They were only $2 a stem and I thought, Hm...those would be really pretty for my bouquets! So I picked them up today after work. My bridesmaids will carry one each and I made myself a bouquet out of 8 of them. I think they look pretty good! I had never considered calla lilies, but I have ended up loving them!
I am almost finished with my Mr. and Mrs. chair hangings. I just have to add the ribbon! I did finish my WE DO letters for the cake table.
We decided not to have a unity candle, so I took the one I had already bought (just a plain white candle) and decorated it with some ribbons. We will use it for decoration on the head table.
No pic's, but I think I may hijack Jon's computer this weekend and force him to figure out how to upload my pictures! I am out of room on my memory card on my camera, plus I'm tired of not being able to post pictures! This post isn't that exciting without them! I saw a wedding today that totally inspired me to use red heart shaped balloons as a back drop for my head table.
I decided to use white paper table clothes on our tables. I am going to get black paper table clothes and cut them into 3's or 4's and use them as table runners! We are going to have white and aquahttp://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=2571033750168903085 containers with crayons in them so people can draw on the table clothes. Add some votive candles and our red and clear heart shaped votive candle holders, and there you have it!
We need to buy the table clothes, votive candles, crayons and containers, bubbles...oh there is still a whole lotta crap to get. But at least I know what I'm getting! It's not the wedding I planned on, but it's turning out ok. I'm trying to keep as much Jon and I in the wedding as I can. I think we are going to use Princess Lea and Han Solo figurines for cake toppers. We are entering to some song from Star Wars. It's the one where they get their meddles. I don't know what it's called. Jon picked it out, but I really like it too! We are working on something special for our programs, but I'm not saying what on here. I want to make sure it happens before I talk about it, but it is very us. I've been thinking about making EAT ME letters for the cake or food table and DRINK ME letters for the bar, but I'm not sure how the caterer and bar tender would like that. It would be an awesome way to bring my love of Alice in Wonderland into the wedding though. The one thing I so badly want is a photo booth. However, there is no way we have the money to rent one! I've thought about doing our own version of one, but I just don't think it is in the cards, money or logistics wise. Sigh. I need a rich uncle or something. Oh well.

hump day

Just witnessed a conversation that showed me how sadly materialistic we have become in this county. That’s not to say I don’t like my possessions, but I would never be the person out there literally fist fighting over a purse! Geez!
Eric Clapton is coming to Verizon on July 2nd! Confirmed!!!! Oh I hope tickets aren’t’ too terribly pricey!
We had our first pre-marital counseling session last night with the new pastor. It was great! It went so well! Jon should be calling the old crazy pastor today to let him know we won’t be using him. Woop! One anxiety down!
It was really nice to see Jon during the week. We had dinner at O’Charley’s. He had never been and he was digging on their scrumptious rolls (oh yum). I could get used to seeing him on more than just the weekends! ;). Someday it will happen. But for now, I am lonely this morning. I loved seeing him last night, but somehow it made today harder. Boo! (secret: he left his shirts here and I kept smelling them last night. Does anyone else do this? They just retain his smell! I love it!)
I think I’m going to start dropping pennies so that other people can find them and have goo luck! You know the saying! Find a penny pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck! Do people still know this saying? Hm. Perhaps dropping pennies would be a futile effort if people no longer follow the penny/luck rule. Something to think about.
Saturday, I go wedding dress shopping. My mom, all 4 sisters, and one niece are going. That’s a whole lotta people. Afterwards, we are going to The Cheesecake Factory. I am excited about that. Yum, cheesecake. And of course, a Golden Girls quote!

“Blanche: Take it from me I wrote the book on dating.
Rose: really what's it called?
Blanche: it doesn't have a title you twit
Dorothy: Well Goodnight
Blanche: You’re going to bed already ?
Dorothy: well what's wrong with going straight to bed?
Rose: hey Blanche that's a good title for your book”

Because every time you mention cheesecake, what else would you think of except the GG’s?!?! oh today I am tired. I kept having nightmares about dress shopping last night.
Well, off I go, pip pip!

This time, monday doesn't suck so bad

Because,
I am listening to Iko Iko by The Dixie.
I am watching Sex and the City (which is about to be followed by some Golden Girls).
Itunes finally got Daria...and My So-Called Life.
And of course, the best thing of all....I get to see Jon tomorrow! Even though it's for pre-marital counseling, I'm just excited I get to see him during the week! I think we may get dinner afterwards. Of course, this is all pending his car actually making it up here. He desperately needs a new one. Speaking of cars, I have officially paid my car off! So that's some extra money every month! Woot!
Did I mention I get to see Jon tomorrow? During the week? Ok, so I may be slightly annoying about it, but I'm just so damn excited!
Today, they began installing central air/heat in our house! This is our last BIG $ project, so I'm super excited! Jon and I were talking about it and how it makes us feel like we really are IN the house now! I still think it's crazy that we are homeowners! And we are getting married! So adult! I mean, I'm 27 (ok almost 28) so I am an adult, but hitting all these big milestones is pretty darn cool. In a totally sophisticated adult way of course ;). Ah adulthood. Once you get past all the responsibility stuff, the rest of it is pretty cool. I'm enjoying it anyway! By the way, I am so in love with this from We Heart It.

i love bob ross

totally random, but just had to say it, I LOVE BOB ROSS! The Joy of Painting was one of my favorite shows when I was little. Once again, I LOVE BOB ROSS! Can someone please put the series out on dvd? Pretty please?!?!?

Sunday at home

Sunday. It has been raining all day. No outdoor activities today either. When, may I ask, am I supposed to plant my flowers?! Oh well. This morning we had eggs. Yup. Super exciting. Then we ran to Big Lots and the flea market. Not much to be seen. I started work on my "Our Adventure 2010" box. So far so good. Now we just have to start doing stuff to fill it up. Ok, technically we started yesterday since "Eat at Rockford" was on my summer to do list. Sonnie, Phil, David, and Kate came over for a bit. Josh has been playing with his Lego's all weekend! They are a miracle toy for rainy weekends! I've never seen anything keep a kid's attention for so long! I made a cake, again out a box. I know, I'm so lazy baking this weekend! Not to mention that I'm baking an awful lot in general. I don't know why, I guess I'm feeling like a suzy homemaker this weekend! Or maybe it's the rain. Who knows! We have just been chilling out all day. I'm making shepard's pie(one of Jon's favorites) for dinner. Josh and I will be gone for dinner, but Jon loves it and then he has left over for the week. Ok, so I might have a bite before I leave. It's one of my favorites too ;). Tonight, I plan to curl up with my cats and my favorite girls.

Nothing can cheer me up like these ladies. They have gotten me through many a night where I was super lonely being away from Jon. I can't believe that April is almost over. My April scrap-journal is coming to an end. It gets to end on a big note, b/c this Friday (the last day of the month) we are going to see the original Nightmare on Elm Street at the drive in. Woot! I really liked doing this project, so after my "Our Adventure" project, I think I may do another one for October. Lord knows we have a lot to journal/scrap on during that month! I also started collecting plates for my plate wall. Jon isn't too keen on the idea, but I think he'll come around once he see's my vision. Well, I'm off to spend what time I have left this weekend with my honey. Happy Sunday to all!

Saturday night relaxations

sometimes, there is nothing better than sitting with my love

while reading this

and listening to this happening outside

Saturay's are nice, even when rainy

Ah. I love Saturdays. Today, we ran to Target in Columbus so that Josh could finally use a Target gift card he got for his birthday. He got Lego's of course! I got complimented while we were walking out of there! Some random lady said "Oh you look so cute i love that!" (referring to my outfit. I was wearing gray skinny jeans with a yellow dress over them) I felt so good! Then we had lunch at Rockford Ridge, aka home of the best onion rings of all time! No joke, they are the ultimate in food. They are a little local place here is Seymour. It's a drive up (like Sonic) and they have the best burgers and onion rings I've ever had. It's not just me, they are 3 for 3 with our family! Yum! After that it rained on and off all day. Raining right now as a matter of fact! So we have spent the afternoon and evening indoors. We came home and I made brownies (out of a box so no recipe) and Josh has been playing with his Lego's. That kid can play with those for hours on end and not get bored! We chilled for a bit, and now some white chicken lasagna is bubbling away in the oven and Jon and I are enjoying some wine (Josh is having a red cream soda). This time, I switched the ricotta cheese for cottage cheese, b/c that's what I was able to get at Target. I also downloaded Nighttiming by Coconut Records today. I love it! Oh I also watched something that made my heart rate go up. A new trailer for Eclipse is out! I can't wait! The movies are pretty darn cheesy, but I still love them!

Now we have peonies?

Oh my word! It looks as if we also have a bunch of peonies beside our house!!! Only my favorite flower!!!! Spring is bringing us many surprises! First lilacs, now peonies! I also have 2 different kinds of plants that have come up in my flower bed. Who new I'd discover so many plants at this house! Good thing too, b/c it means less work for me!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. One song that always takes me back to my youth is …baby one more time by Britney spears. And yes, still love her .

2. My first concert ever was hm…I believe it was george strait, but I don’t really remember. My parents took us.

3. If I could create my dream music festival I'd want these bands to be there: The Beatles (without the screaming girls), Iron and Wine, She and Him, Led Zeppelin, Guns n’ roses, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix, I could go on forever with this one .

4. The best make-out/"boot knocking" song ever is I don’t know the name of it, but I think its by Ananda Shankar .

5. The best concert I've ever been to was Tom Petty .

6. A memorable musical moment for me was Jon and I’s first concert together. We saw Tom Petty and it was amazing! .

7. The song on my iPod that's getting the most play these days is Possibility by Lykke Li .

And here are some random thoughts for you.
Sometimes, there is just nothing better than a good old original flavored chip. Why is this? They are full of salt and have nothing good in them that’s why. Much like their beloved cousin the French fry, we just love the salty goodness that has way too many calories, fat, and sodium. And on a slow day, there’s just nothing better. Then we drink them with diet coke. Does this make sense? Nope. But we don’t care! We just love our afternoon snacks! (lucky they don’t happen every afternoon or we’d all be whales!)
Totally random (but that’s normal!) but I’ve seen What’s on Your Nightstand? posts going around so I decided to do mine! Currently, my nightstand houses a lamp, red box (nothing in it), various nail polishes, a picture of Jon, my alarm clock, various bills, a coaster, scissors, various pens/pencils, and at night add in my glasses and engagement ring. No pictures b/c I still have a craptastic computer. (will I ever stop complaining? Yes, yes I will.)
I am so ready to be home. I hate that I have to spend 1-1 ½ hours driving to get there! Where is my teletransporation device!?! Where is my Jetsons travel tube?!?! I need those! Beam me home Scotty! Blech. It’s raining and nasty and I just want to be home with Jon. Plus, my favorite bra just broke. At work. Sarah just got grumpy.

Happy Earth Day!

Do something good for the earth!
I have a wedding announcement! I have fallen in love with donut cakes. Love them! And they’re cheap! I had wanted to get a cake done by my mom’s friend, but I’m really having trouble justifying spending that much money on a cake! So I’m beginning to seriously consider a donut cake! Cheap, cute, and totally us (we’ll had some donut holes for Jon). Yep, I think it’s a go! Also, I am going to try my hand at making fabric flowers for the bouquets and my hair piece! Wish me luck! One wedding thing we have to get a move on is registering. Our wedding is less than 5 months away (oh dear lord how in hades did that happen?) so we need to get off our bums and go register!
Our house. It’s coming along. The central air/heat is being put in on Monday! Woop! I have a million little projects I want to make for the house, but somehow never find the time. 2 I plan on starting this weekend are a photo wall (the photos will be hung from clothes pins on twine) and a plate wall. I love the plate walls I’ve seen and think it’s a really neat way to showcase your personal style. So I’m going to start collecting plates (ok so I already have) for the plate wall. I am so hitting target for the Liberty of London collection. I hope they still have a plate! Those two projects are low maintenance and shouldn’t be too pricey!

http://www.blurb.com/ - makes a book for you! I have got to do this!

http://www.blyberg.net/card-generator/ A library card generator?!?!? Yes! (does anyone else miss the card catalog? I do )

Idea – paint a stripe wall (horizontal wide stripes) at the head of our bed.

http://emilyframe.blogspot.com/ cute blog, check it out!

And tonight, I am going to spend some time with my twin nephews and their older sister. love those kids! I spend a lot of time with them during the week. That will be the hardest part about moving away (whenever that happens, no time soon fo sho, which is sad). And away I fly!

whatever wendesday

Goodness I have been missing blogs lately! I had a post all ready to go yesterday but deleted. It was very personal and I guess I’m just not ready to put that out there yet. But I do have news. And wedding news at that! I have officially scheduled my dress shopping appointment! On Saturday May 1st at 10am I will be trying on wedding dresses! I’m going with my sisters and my mom and afterwards we are going to lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. I’m getting a bit excited about it, but don’t expect me to try on tons of dresses. I typically know what I like and once I find something I don’t change my mind.
Other than that, not much to report. Just living away! I am excited b/c we are going to see the original Nightmare on Elm Street at the drive in on April 30th! I can’t wait! I’m so exciiiited and I just can’t hiiiide it! Yup that’s right, Flashdance anyone? I started taking a new allergy medicine, the generic Zyrtec. It works better than any others I’ve tried, but I still don’t feel 100%. At least I don’t feel like a zombie anymore though. And I can almost breathe. I’ve also recently fell in love with gums from my past. Yes, gums. I always loved Juicy Fruit and I’ve been chewing it again recently. Also, Big Red and bubble gum flavored bubble gum! Yum! My niece loves it b/c she gets good flavored gum when she gets to chew Aunt Sarah’s gum! The only thing is, now my purse smells like fruity cinnamon! On a really weird note, I have lost a bit of last night from my memory. I remember getting into the shower. I remember shampooing my hair. Then…blank. The next thing I know I’m getting out of the shower! I must have conditioned my hair and washed mahself, b/c I’m clean and my hair wasn’t tangled, but I cannot remember! Eek! I’m getting old! Oh and by the by, Betty White is my hero. Love her! May 8th, Saturday Night Live, she’s on, check it out!

Monday Shopping and Other Things

Today I went shopping. I only picked up 2 things, but it felt good to shop for clothes again! I went to Target and got a dress and a nightie. Sadly I don't have any pictures, b/c I still have a crap computer. The dress is the Mossimo kimono sleeved dress in bright yellow. I have the same dress in pink and I wear it all the time, so I wanted to get another one. I have been loving yellow and gray together, so I got the yellow dress to wear with gray leggings. I got the nightie for our honeymoon. It is the Liberty of London pleated chemise in the grand royal and sixty print. I had been drooling over it, so I decided it is perfect for our honeymoon! I hate not having any pictures. :( I can't wait to get a new computer!

Other than that, I haven't done much today. I'm snuggling with my cat in front of some Bewitched. I just love old tv shows! I am such a crazy cat lady when I'm at my sister's during the week. I just cuddle up with my cats, lol.

And I am still looking forward to this movie. Just 2 1/2 months to go!

And I just really like this picture. I love all things Twilight! Squee! I think I need to reread it again!

Oh, and I totally want to eat this! I need to make a rainbow cake!

A sunday with a recipe - Pork Chops

Last night, after I posted, Dustin and Amber called and asked if we wanted to go to their place to hang out for a bit. So we headed over there and stayed for a few hours. We got home and went to bed. This morning we lazed in bed for a bit, then we got up and I made breakfast. Pork chops! I know, I know, pork chops for breakfast?!?! But I had some I needed to use up so I figured...why not? I used a new recipe (see below) and served them with mashed potatoes. They were pretty good too! Now we are going to spend the rest of the day picking up and doing laundry and making soup. All in all, a damn good day!

Pork Chops
I got this original recipe from Campbell's website. I have put my changes in ().

4 pork chops, 1 inch thick (I use 2)
1 can cream of mushroom soup (I used 98% fat free)
3/4 cup milk
1/2 packet of ranch dressing mix
(fresh mushrooms)
1 tbsp veggie oil

Heat oil in a pan. Brown chops on both sides. Add milk, soup, mix, and mushrooms. Stir and reduce heat. Allow to simmer until chops are cooked through. (I used only 2 chops and added fresh mushrooms to the gravy. We served this with mashed potatoes. Next time, I am only using 1/4 packet of the ranch mix. With a full 1/2, it was just a bit to salty.)

cupcakes and pastors

This morning we met with our new pastor. This one is great! On the 27th we meet with the pastor who will doing our counseling. If he's as nice as Jim (the one who will be marrying us today) then we are good to go! Tomorrow, Jon is going to call the first pastor (mr wacko pants) and tell him thanks but no thanks.

We got back and took a nap. I was bushed! Plus Jon kept telling me I was being a grump so I thought, sure I'll nap. When we woke up we had a some dinner (just a boxed meal nothing spec) and Jon is playing a new game he got. I am attempting my first cupcakes and icing from scratch! I am using the recipe I found for orange cupcakes on http://chelsea-rebecca.blogspot.com/ (see recipe below). Now we are just going to hang out and maybe watch some Weekend at Bernies.

ORANGE CUPCAKES

1 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp grated orange zest
3 tbsp butter {only 3 tbsp. of butter!? you're basically eating fruit!}
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
squeeze half of orange into batter for extra yumness
ORANGE frosting {to die for. best icing hand down!}
2 cups confectioners' sugar
5 tbsp butter
2 tbsp orange zest
juice from orange {as much as you want}
2 tbsp whole milk
preheat oven to 325 F. Beat flour, sugar, baking powder, orange zest, and butter in mixer on slow speed. gradually pour in the milk and beat till just incorporated. add egg and continue beating. continue mixing for a couple minutes until batter is smooth. spoon batter into baking cups until 2/3 full and bake for 20-25 minutes.
lemon frosting: beat together confectioners' sugar, butter, and orange zest on medium slow speed. slowly pour in the milk on a slow speed and gradually turn the mixer up to high speed. continue beating for 5 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy.

They turned out pretty good! I think I need a bit more practice before they're ready for guests, but I liked them! I didn't realize how difficult baking from scratch is! Sarah needs some practice, but I'll get it!

Friday Night Lights

Today was a good day. This morning, I got my tax return! Woop! Central air conditioning here we come! Then my boss brought ice cream to us. Then I left work early. I got to come home and be with Jon that much sooner! We ran to Walmart and to celebrate, we got some butterfly shrimp I had a coupon for. They were pretty good too! Now we are chilling at home getting ready to watch Ghostbusters. May I just say that Mega Man has the most epic soundtracks! Well, sorry it was so short but I'm gonna head out and take some ghosts with me!

Tax Day

Just another random work mind day. I really should post something other than random thoughts.

Happy tax day! Still no sign of my tax return (stinking IRS) but someday my prince, er, money will come. On a completely other note, I’ve decided to side with the geese. Yup, geese. Are they annoying? Yes. Do they scare the bajesus out of me? Yes. But if you stop to think about it, we are the bad guys. We took away their homes, building roads and buildings in their place. Then we conveniently put ponds around these roads and buldings. So the geese are thinking, hm. They changed it up a bit, but at least we still have a pond! So they settle down and lay some eggs and then what do we do? We take their eggs away, spray the area so they won’t come back, and then yell at them constantly when they do! What are the poor geese to do? It’s our own fault really. I’d be pretty upset if someone stole my babies too! So now I side with the geese. At least until one chases me. *sudder*

Check out this blog http://roedbook.blogspot.com/
It is so cute! They look like such a fun couple! (I’m not a stalker, I just want to be friends…really!) Plus, they are from IN! I finally found another blogger from IN! I was beginning to think they didn’t exist! I like that I finally know the places people are talking about!

Bathroom lingerers be gone! Come on people, I have blogged about this before! Stop lingering in the public restrooms! Seriously! I don’t care about your highlights or the fact that you’ve had to switch hair dressers!! Take your friend (co lingerer) and move that talk to the break room! The bathroom is not a place for talking!

Things I am looking forward to this summer!
1. corn on the cob… oh yum!
2. any type of food on the grill
3. camping
4. fishing
5. rowboating
6. picnics
7. hiking
8. swimming
9. bike riding
10. popsicles!
11. movies at the drive in
12. my bachelorette party!
13. a fourth of july cookout…at our very own home!

I have been told by 3 people this week that I am jolly, infectiously happy, and funny. I’m having a good week!

Wonderfully Random Wednesday

This morning, I parked my car very crooked and as I was re aligning myself I was thinking, “How did I park so catty-wompus?” Then I realized, I had no idea how to spell catty-wompus, or catty-corner for that matter! So I did some google searching and found that while catty-corner (correct sp per google) is a word, catty-wompus is not. So there isn’t really any true way to spell it. So I chose to take the catty-corner route and hyphenate. That is the story of my spelling of catty-wompus (which is the best word in the world, by the by).

Brad Paisley is coming to Verizon on June 5...my birthday!!! This year it will also be my bachlorette party...at the concert!!!! Woooooooooooooot!

The Georgetown Drive In is showing the original 1984 version of Nightmare on Elm Street. I am so there! With Jon of course...for proection from the nasty horror movie dontcha know. ;)

Style is relative. I have such a mishmash of styles, that I couldn’t ever pick just one. So if I ever had to define my style, it would be something ridiculously long like: modern bohemian with a classic/indie/hippie/punk/old hollywood/glamorous flair to it. See? Ridiculous! So I’ve decided that I’ll just deem my style, sarah style. Completely self involved? Perhaps, but it is a lot faster to explain.

I want blackberry cobbler really bad.

I grew up on a farm in Monon IN (northern part of the state). After highschool, I moved to Indy (central IN) for college and stayed there for a while (actually still here during the week) to soak up the city life. Then I met my fiancé Jon, who is from Seymour IN (southern part of the state) and we decided to settle there. So when I say I am from IN, I can honestly say I have lived in every part of the state. This just hit me today and I though it was funny. Don’t know why.

My Top Ten Bucket List
10. Go to Europe
9. Have a child
8. Have a lady cave
7. See all 50 states
6. Get an awesome camera
5. Have a garden
4. See Sir Paul McCartney in concert
3. See the ocean
2. Bake the perfect cupcake…from scratch (frosting too!)
1. Marry Jon.

I love comments! Oh today rocks my socks baby!!!!!

a happy post

Sorry I have been in such a deplorable mood as of late. There hasn’t been a whole lotta happy posting around here huh? So here are some things that have elevated my mood today.
Today I smelled bubble gum. Bubble gum flavored bubble gum. It has been way to long since I had that!
There are way too many cute clothes at Target right now! Oh how I long to shop! Sadly, there are just too many bills right now (hello car insurance and plumbing people!) and a lack of tax return in my bank account. So I must wait. But oh how a long for some new clothes! Maybe just one top? It’s under $20. Please? I do get paid Thrusday….hmmmm.
Brad Paisley tickets go on sale on the 17th! Bachelorette party here I come!
Found a super duper orange cupcake recipe at http://chelsea-rebecca.blogspot.com/ that I can’t wait to try! Super cute blog all around, go check it out!
The weather is incredible! So sunny and warm. I heart spring! (except the allergies. Always that.)
Last night I got to hang out with 3 of the cutest 8 kids I know and I get to do it again tonight!

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Last night at the wedding, we got to hang out with Amber for a bit. Dustin was running around doing pictures, so we waited with Amber and Zoey in the parking lot. Zoey is doing better. She doesn't need surgery right now, so they are going to see the doctor in May as scheduled. Continued prayers/good vibes/thoughts are still VERY welcome. As Amber said, it's just one day at a time right now.
My casserole turned out great! Yea! I have had trouble with egg casseroles in the past, so I am very pleased! Sonnie and Phil are back from vacation and brought us all a little something. I got a new coffee mug! This afternoon, we attempted to teach Josh to ride a bike. I love that kid to death, but man. I suppose it's hard to teach any kid to ride a bike. Sigh. Well there's always next time. Now we are just chilling out. I don't feel that great and neither does Jon. My allergies are really bad right now (what's up with that pollen count anyway?) so I'm just feeling...blech. Jon's got a headache. We're both a bit nauseous.
Time for some R&R.

Yagelski Egg Casserole

Tonight, I made chocolate chip cookies! They were delightful! We used the Nestle Tollhouse recipe. You can't go wrong with that one! I'm not posting it b/c, well, it's on the back of the chocolate chips. I am however posting another recipe. I made up an egg casserole for our breakfast tomorrow. I got this recipe from my sister Becky, who got it from her mother in law. It's really good! Give it a go!

Yagelski Egg Casserole

9 eggs (beaten)
1 pkg (2 cups) shredded cheese
5 slices of bread, torn up
2 pkg smokies, cut up
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tsp dry mustard
pepper to taste

Mix all together and pour into a 9x13 glass baking dish. Let sit in the fridge overnight. (You must make this up the night before! Very Imporatnt!) Bake uncovered for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

On a side note, my dad makes a KILLER egg casserole! I got his recipe too, and I am trying it next time we have Josh. These casseroles tend to feed a lot of people (I mean, it is enough to fill a 9x13 pan!) so I've decided only make them when all three of us will be home. I suppose you could 1/2 the recipe, but I've never tried, so proceed at your own risk!

Lilac Love

We have a lilac bush! At our house, we have a lilac bush! A big one! I noticed when I pulled up last night that I thought I smelled lilacs. I though one of our neighbors must have a bush. Today, we went outside to enjoy this gorgeous weather, and lo and behold, we have a lilac bush! It's on the side of our house and it is beautiful! It smells so good! It just started blooming, so I'm hoping next weekend, there will be some fully bloomed and I can bring them inside! They smell heavenly! Squee!!!! I'm so excited! Here I was getting ready to uy one and we already have one! I remember my parents lilac bush. When I was little, I loved to play in it. It was almost like 2 bushes that had grown together and made one big bush with a hole/clearing inside. I always thought it was a magical place. Now I have one of my own! I also have some sort of plant growing next to the house that looks like rhubarb! I don't think it is, but it is quite funny looking. I'm so excited to plant flowers in my flower bead! Look at me, I'm a regular housewife! Hehe. Well, off to the wedding!

Tommy Guns and Dragons

Yesterday realized that my shopping ban has been off for more than a week, and I haven't bought anything! (except for my trip to Hobby Lobby) So I decided to get some scrapbooking supplies. I got some Cosmo Cricket Mr. Campy scrapbook paper.
I already have some, but I wanted to get some more b/c I love it so much! We are planning on going camping this summer, and I'm thinking about doing a minibook. I'm also planning on using it for when we go fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities. It's just gorgeous paper! I also got some random journaling card. I've been scrapjournaling the month of April and in doing it, I've found that I need some simple journaling cards. I can't wait until it all comes in! I haven't bought any clothes or cosmetics, but I plan to try a new foundation soon. Also, I think I may pop over to Old Navy and get some capri's for summer. We'll see. I'm still trying to keep the shopping to a minimum to try and save money. It's interesting that all I've bought thus far are crafting/scrapping supplies! I've been feeling very creative lately though, so perhaps that's why.

We went to see How to Train Your Dragon today. It was so good! I highly recommend it! I want a pet dragon now! So cute!

When we got into the theater, we realized there was a kids party going on. In the theater. It was awful! you know those parents who don't control their children? They let them shout and babble during the movie, and play on the stairs? Yeah those parents? This party was like having 30 kids that belonged to those parents! It almost ruined the movie for me, but luckily the movie was good enough to make up for the crappy audience. Seriously, who has a birthday party in a movie theater?!?!? And why in God's name did the theater not tell us before selling us the tickets? Yeah, I know, they wanted the ticket sale. But really? Huff.
Now we are at home. Jon and Josh got Nerf tommy guns at Walmart and now they are playing with them. FYI, do NOT shoot them at close range. It hurts like a mother! Later this evening, Jon and I are heading to a wedding (Dustin's sister) and Josh gets to stay for a bit with GamGam (His great grandma). Then home again to a bottle wine, scrapjournaling, and watching a movie (I'm voting for the Ghostbusters or the Labyrinth, but we'll see.)

TGIF

After a mind bogglingly bad day at work, I headed home for the weekend. We found out that Jon's dad had a minor heart attack. He is back home today. He has to take it easy for a while and make a few lifestyle changes, but he'll be ok. My friends baby is doing better today. One day at a time seems to be the motto to go by.
Jon wrote me a love letter. It was so beautiful. He's much better at being romantic than he gives himself credit for. I can't beleive how much I love him, and that he loves me just as much. I don't know why I deserve to have such a complete happiness, but I'm glad I have it.

Ok enought with the gooey. Up for this weekend, a wedding, a movie, and relaxation! After this week, I need it! I'm off now to watch Mystery Science Theatre 3000. This episode has the Skipper from Gilligan's Island in it! Woop woop!

More Bad News

Last night, we found out our friends daughter may need another emergency surgery on her brain. Any prayers/thoughts/good vibes would be appreciated.

No news on Jon's dad. Jon said he's back to his old self, but he had to stay in the hospital again last night b/c they are still running tests.

Thank God it's Friday.

What a Day

Oy Vey! What a morning! Work is craptastic and Jon’s dad is in the hospital (actually that happened last night, and prayers/thoughts would be appreciated). I am tired. I just want to crawl back in bed and sleep. Cuddling with the cats would also be acceptable. So Jon’s dad. Last night, he went to the hospital b/c he was having chest pains, was short of breath, and his arm was tingling. They don’t think he had a heart attack, but that it is a blockage of some sort. He stayed last night and is still there today while they run a plethora of tests. Hopefully we will know something soon. Jon said he is in good spirits and acts completely fine and normal, except when they gave him morphine for the pain. Apparently, that was hysterical! So can’t believe I had to miss that! In all seriousness, we would appreciate any prayers if you are a prayer, or good thought vibes if you aren’t. Hopefully it’s nothing to serious. It’s really hard to live in Indy during the week especially when stuff like this happens. I feel like I should be down there, but I can’t be. It sucks! At least I will be down there tomorrow night.
It cooled off today, which I am choosing to enjoy. I know in a few short months, it will be hotter than Scarlett’s bloomers, so I will enjoy the nice cool weather while it lasts. (By the by, did anyone actually like Gone With the Wind? I personally think people pretend to like it b/c they think they should. Yes I’ve seen it, and it is not my cup of tea.) I could do without the tornadoes and extreme storms though. Last night I thought the apocalypse had come! My poor cats didn’t know what to do!
Oh and speaking of the apocalypse, I am really honked off about the whole 2012 thing. People need to do their research before deciding the world is going to end. FYI, the Mayan calendar doesn’t end, it starts over! Holy Cow! What do we do now?!??! Oh that’s right, keep on keepin’ on. *insert snort here* Sometimes I think people want the world to end. Remember Y2K? Yup, that didn’t happen either!
Sorry about the rant filled post. Yesterday I said I was going to come back happier, but it turns out that just isn’t in the stars. I’ll leave you with a happy quote though! Or at least a quote that makes me happy anyway.

“Wendy: But, Peter, how do we get to Never Land?
Peter Pan: Fly, of course.
Wendy: Fly?
Peter Pan: It's easy! All you have to do is to... is to... is to... Ha! That's funny.
Wendy: What's the matter? Don't you know?
Peter Pan: Oh, sure. It's... It's just that I never thought about it before. Say, that's it! You think of a wonderful thought.” – Disney’s Peter Pan (1953)

Grrrrrr

Stupid computer!!!! I just restarted it for the third time! Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhh! I need new computer!! Oh, ok and now my tv stops working in the middle of Bones! What the hell is going on? I think I am actually killing the technology around me! Sorry for the angry post, but it has been an angry kind of day. I'll say no more on the subject. Even Golden Girls isn't pulling me out of this funk. I'll be back once my mood has reset.

Sarah's got her craft back

Tonight, I had dinner with Rachel, my friend from high school. It's always nice to catch up with her! We had dinner at the Macaroni Grill. Yum! I had the mushroom ravioli(Twilight anyone?) and it was delicious! If you like mushrooms, you should try it! I also love their bread. Oh yum. After dinner, I ran to Hobby Lobby and picked up some yarn and some craft wreaths. I made a wreath for my door for summer. It is turquoise yarn with 3 purple-ish butterflies attached. Once I am able to I'll post a picture. I am loving making wreaths! Yea for crafting! I also have been keeping a scrap-journal for the month of April. We have so much going on this month I figured it was a good month to do this. I'm having a lot of fun with it! Here are some wreaths I want to make and an awesome house I totally want to live in. All images from We Heart It.

100th Post

Did everyone have a good Easter? We spent most of ours driving, but it was nice to get to see my family! Man I am still bushed though! Driving that much makes me tired!
Work today seemed to last forever! Loooong day! I'm glad it's over! Tomorrow night, I am having dinner with my friend Rachel at Macaroni Grill. Yum! Good eats! I think I'll stop by Hobby Lobby since it is just around the corner from the Grill and pick up some crafting supplies. I also need to price some wedding things there. It's getting to the time when I have to actually start buying stuff for the big event. Sigh. I just see that money going away and I cringe! I know it's for my wedding, but I still just....shudder. I guess there's a part of me that feels it's a waste b/c it's only for one night. At least I'm going cheap!
Man I am just drained! Sorry to repeat myself, but it just keeps hitting me how tired I am. My cat sure missed me while I was gone for the weekend! He was so cuddly last night! Jersey could take me or leave me, but Topeka misses me when I'm gone. I sound like a crazy old cat lady, but I love my boys!
Well this post has been short and boring. Sorry I don't have more interesting things to blog about. Have a good night everyone! I'll try to be more interesting tomorrow...or Wednesday. Whichever comes first.

Saturday Delights and a Soup Recipe

Mmmm. I loved the sunshine yesterday, but there is something about a rainy day that I love too! First, b/c I always want to make soup on rainy days. Yum! (see recipe down farther) And second b/c it gives you an excuse to rent movies and lounge about all day without making you seem too terribly lazy. Today Jon and I felt the rainy day lazies. Since we are going to be on the road aka very busy tomorrow, we decided to take it easy today. We rented The Men Who Stare at Goats and .... wait for it.... Julie and Julia!!!! I have been waiting to see that movie forever!

Julie and Julia was fantastic, as I knew it would be. Has Meryl Streep ever done you wrong? (No, seriously, she can do no wrong!) All the stories about how amazing this movie is are true. As a blogger, one needs to watch this movie. Even if you don't blog, you should see this. It's just a fantastic, amazing, wonderful, fabulous movie! If you haven't seen it, do so. We rented it, and I will be buying it the first chance I get! I am however still terrified of french cooking! I am certainly not as brave as those two ladies! ( No way could I bring myself to cook a lobster or debone a duck!) I think I will stick to making my easy versions of recipes, though I did get a couple of tips from the movie. I had no idea you should dry meat off before cooking it! Maybe I will pick up Julia's book to see if there are any other tips I can incorporate into my kind of cooking!

The Men Who Stare at Goats was a great movie! It comes highly recommended by me. You have to keep an open mind when watching it b/c it gets a little out there, but it was cracking Jon and I up! I love Jeff Bridges! Love him!

We did accomplish something other than loafing today! We went and picked out our wedding bands! We both just picked plain white gold bands. Mine is a 3mm and his is a 4mm and we both wear a size 7! Hehe, we are sooooo made for each other! It was nice to see how my engagement ring looks with a wedding band! We didn't buy them today, but once my tax refund comes in, they are on the list!

Last night, while Dustin and Amber were here we got into some wedding talk! I have come up with some creative and cost effective ideas for the wedding! I just want our wedding to be personal and unstuffy (yup that's a word of my own making :P). Fun! I want it to be fun! And so it will be. For one thing, we are going to have paper for table clothes, and part of our centerpeices will be crayons in jars so that people can write on the tables! It will give them something fun to do! I always love eating at restaurants that have this and I thought, hey, why not do it for the wedding! We have also come up with a fun idea for the programs, but that is a secret! I hope we can pull it off! Have I mentioned that I love my fiance? Well I do! Love you Jon! So here is the recipe I mentioned above. Bon Appetit!

Beef Noodle French Onion Mushroom Soup
2 quarts beef stock
1 package fresh mushrooms
1 yellow onion, chopped roughly
1 can Campbell's french onion soup
1/2 bag egg noodles

Saute the mushrooms and onions in a tiny bit of butter or oil in the bottom of a large soup pot. They just need to be browned. Add in the stock and soup and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer until onions and mushrooms are tender. Add noodles and simmer until they are done. Eat!

April 2nd Part Deuce

What a fantastic day! After our biking adventure, Jon and I took a shower and headed to the bank and Good Will. We found Pictionary at GW which I am happy about. Then we picked up Wendy's (I know, not healthy at all! But it was so nice and I didn't feel like cooking.) and went home. Once we had eaten, Jon and I were both a bit tired, so we took a nap. Man that felt good! When we woke up, Dustin, Amber and Zoey came over to visit! We sat around and chatted for a bit, then headed up to Skyline. I had never been there before and it was beautiful! Skyline is a SUPER high hill (looks like a mountain actually) and at the top, they have a vista that over looks 2 counties! It was gorgeous! Then we headed to a wooden covered bridge. It's closed to traffic, and I think they are restoring it. Right now it is all decrepit and old looking, which I think is neat. We walked up and down it and it is pretty neat. After that we all had dinner and hung out a bit more. They left to go home and we just relaxed a bit. I don't know how midnight got here! It was gorgeous out today too! It got up in the 80's with a nice breeze! Lovely. And the great thing is, I still have 2 days of weekend left! Woot!

quickie

Oh my. Jon and I broke out the bikes this morning and rode to his mom's house and back. It was nice to be back on a bike after more than a decade, but man am I out of shape! Whew! It reminded me that I still have a long way to go!

Oh my is it beautiful out! I am loving this weather! Sigh. I just want to lay out a blanket in a park and relax! I may do some spray painting I've been putting off so as to be productive a little bit. Who knows! I love having holidays off of work! Especially when the weather is so beautiful! Love it! Go get out and enjoy it! Go! Now! It's going to rain tomorrow, so enjoy it while it's here!
