2 Quick Things

Firstly, I have to say RIP to Nora Ephron.  Without you, some of my favorite movies would not exist.  Thank you for sharing your gift with the world.

Secondly, why did I wait so long to read this...

.... because it is amazing!  I'm hooked!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!!

Here is a huge Happy Father's Day to all the amazing dad's in my life!  I called my Dad this morning and had a great talk with him.  I get to see him next weekend!  Woot!  We don't have Josh today, but I took Jon out to breakfast and we are going to see Prometheus this afternoon.  HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!!!!

Rain and Parties

So...I've been battling a cold all week.  It is so not fun.  Luckily, I have been feeling much better this weekend which is good b/c we had parties!  This weekend was my 30th birthday party, which did not go as planned.  I had planned an outdoor dinner party.  It was 90 degrees, thunder-storming,

and we had just been at a graduation party for this guy...

Needless to say, we had to change our plans.  So we moved the party inside and did what we could.  Note to self in the future.  Make sure to have a back up plan for outdoor parties!   I had to do away with most of my decorating ideas, so I didn't get to do a whole lot.  Here are a few details anyway.

It was a fun time even with all the changes.  I made 2 different types and sangria and they were both GONE!  Success!  While at Zach's grad party, we got to see this cutie.

She's getting so big!  For reference, here is a picture of her and her mom the day after she was born.

That smidgen of black is her.  Here she is yesterday with her mom.

She's huge!  Her name is Lexi by the way and she belongs to David and Kate.  She gets to go home with them soon!  Anywho, that was our day yesterday.

30

Today I am 30 years old.  It's a bit surreal to be honest.  You just never think you're going to be your parents age, then suddenly you are.  The older I get, the more I'm realizing that age is truly just a number.  I'm no different today than I was yesterday, unless I choose to be.  Of course that doesn't stop me from realizing that things from my childhood are now obsolete and that I'm now a ma'am to teenagers instead of a cool 20 something contemporary.  It also doesn't help that I'm the oldest in our group of friends.  Ouch!  I suppose that just means that I need to embrace my new age bracket and look forward to when my friends reach this milestone and I can share the dirty thirty moments as they will share mine with me.  I'm having a party on the 16th to celebrate my very own coming of age and I'm really looking forward to it!  I will ring in this new decade with fun!  Actually, as my Uncle Juan let me know, your third decade doesn't start until you turn 31, but I'll count 30 too.  So what have I learned from my first 3 decades?
1.  Nothing is final.
2.  Almost anything can be fixed.
3.  Live your life to the fullest b/c it is truly very short!
4.  Time starts to move extremely fast once you pass 25.
5.  Take time to enjoy the little moments.
6.  Spend as much time as you can with those you love.
7.  Try new things and you'll find more things to love.
8.  Embrace every moment (yes, even the bad ones) b/c each moment is unique and won't come around again.
9.  You are only as old as you feel and most of what you feel is self imposed.
10.  I look younger than my little sister b/c I got carded and she didn't.  Hehe, just had to throw that one in b/c it made my day!

So in conclusion, 30 isn't bad.  It just depends on how you spin it! :)

Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon...

Like how I'm using song lyrics for my blog titles today?  I am.  This afternoon lil' brudder Zach graduated from high school.  Aw.

So vacation is officially over and it's back to work tomorrow.  Here are a few pictures of things from our lovely week off.

(Yeah this is a work in progress.  Need to fix the grey that's falling among other things.  It's going to be the backdrop for the photo booth at my birthday party!)

Vinyl Vlog

Easy Like Sunday Morning...

Hello jello!  It's Sunday and that's cool with me!  Well, not really b/c it means I have to go to work tomorrow, but I'm glad it's Sunday and I get to relax!  We had a great weekend!  Yesterday we visited Mike, Michelle, and the puppies.  I can't believe how big Lexi is getting!  So cute!

We headed home for lunch and I took in an episode of Charmed while I walked on the treadmill.  I love that show!  We headed to David and Kate's for a cookout to celebrate her birthday.  We had a blast!  Josh stayed the night with Mike and Michelle, so we stayed at the party later than we normally would.  A fun time was most definitely had!  We slept in this morning then picked up Josh and treated ourselves to McD's for breakfast.  Now I'm getting in some quality coffee/blogging/youtubing/photo editing time.  I love Sunday mornings!

06.01.2012

Sadly, our vacation is winding down.  I'm not too down b/c we got a lot done!  We cleaned out the garage and deep cleaned the house.  We got a lovely visit from my family.  I had a great girl day with Amber.  I crafted quite a bit and did some baking too.  And we took a few days to do absolutely nothing.  In my book that's a pretty successful vacation.  And we still have our weekend left!
In other news, we have a new party store in the area and I am psyched!  We have needed a good party store forever and this place is awesome!  I know where I'll be going for party supplies from now on, which is good considering I have a few parties this year!  Amber and I made a stop there today and their balloon selection is huge!  We puttered around Columbus for a bit and then had lunch at Penn Station.  Nom!  I came home and made some new wall art for our bedroom.

I love it!  I've been looking for something for this wall for a while!  I rewarded myself with a nap. :)

Mini Peach Cobblers

While we were at Huber's this week we picked up some peaches and I needed something to make! I decided on Peach Cobber, mini-fied!

1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
melted butter
5 tbsp brown sugar
2-3 peaches, sliced

Mix the first 5 ingredients.  Coat a muffin pan with melted butter.  It's totally ok if you have little pools of butter in the bottom of the muffin cups, so no worries if you have a little extra. ;)  Pour batter evenly into 9 cups of a 12 cup muffin pan.   Place 2 slices of peach into each up, including the empty 3.  Sprinkle with brown sugar, to taste.  Bake at 350 degrees for around 20 minutes.  Let cool a wee bit then chop the peaches from the empty muffin cups and top each cobbler with a little of them.  Let cool 15 minutes then scoop out the cobblers and serve with a bit of whipped cream.
